Music and Sound Design by Carl Boland
This soundtrack project for a student animation short was completed in about 10 hours. The music genre (jazz) and percussive sound effects underpin the film noir atmosphere and urban setting. The sound design also includes an example of external analepsis – a flashback to a point before the narrative started. Specifically, when the female character sees the front page news story of her own divorce, the sound design momentarily references her subjective memories of the courtroom, as signified by the sounds of voices, camera flashbulbs, and a judge’s gavel.
